Take VFW road to the Chugach Park. There's a couple of parking spots at the River Walk sign. This trail is an active trail and easy to negotiate, take care on a couple of small small water crossings, the rocks can be slippery. Every year there are bear and moose seen in the area, so make plenty of noise.
This cache is the small ammo can loaded with goodies.
The walk back to and along the river is beautiful and relaxing. In the spring I would recommend a good dose of bug dope, there can be one or two skitters around. If your timing is good you can watch a kayak travel through the rapids. Watch out for muggles on the other side of the river, they can seeeee youuuu.
