Geocache Description:

Illawarra Shorthorn Cattle

Illawarra Shorthorn cattle were bred in the Illawarra when dairying began in the mid 1850's.
Local breaders mixed Longhorn Durhams, Shorthorn Durhams, Red Lincolns and Red Ayreshires to breed the Illawarra Shorthorn.
It was the first dairy breed to be developed in Australia.
