This is a little known park in Red Hook named Valentino Park that have the very best view of the Statue of Liberty outside of Governors Island (which is within view of GZ also and is to the right of Lady Liberty). This is as close to the Statue of Liberty as you can get in Brooklyn.
Red Hook is the only part of New York City that, on land, has a full frontal view of the Statue of Liberty, which was oriented to face France, the country which donated the statue to the United States following the centennial of the United States.
At this very park, you could also set out in a kayak and a canoe as long as you have a permit. Just be aware of all the rules by the front gate before you set off into the waters.
Additional info: Apparently after this cache was placed, they added some artwork nearby. Look for the giant Red Hook blocks and the painted mural wall.
