The Newfoundland railway operated for a little over a century. From 1882-97 the trains ran over completed portions of a projected trans-insular line. The first passenger train across the island ran in June 1898. Regular passenger service ceased in July 1969, and the last freight ran in June 1988. The railbed has since been designated a "Trailway" and a linear provincial park.
In the summer we love to “ride the rails” so to speak on our quad to our summer retreat or just to view the amazing scenery and of course in the winter those same tracks give us the pleasure of an over the country ride on our ski-doo. We decided that since we spend so much time on the old rail beds that we should put out a series called “ I'm Working on the Railroad” as a tribute to the Newfie Bullet and one of our favourite ways to enjoy the Trailway . Hope you have as much fun finding them as we did hiding them.
This series of geocaches are all winter friendly.
