Do puzzle caches ... well ... puzzle you?

Some people seek out puzzles and some avoid them like the plague. I think the latter group misses out on one of the more fascinating aspects for Geocaching. Of course, there is the "double victory" of solving the puzzle (the A-ha moment) and then finding the cache. But more importantly, it has been my experience that those that place puzzle caches tend to put an a little extra effort into finding a good location, creating crafty containers and put a little more thought into the physical cache.

The creativity and elegance of some of our fellow cachers is really remarkable. Hopefully, this quick class will give you some tools to enjoy solving and finding these caches.

The basic agenda will line up like this:

  • We will discuss where to start.
  • We will discuss some generic types of puzzles.
  • We will talk about strategy and tactics on how to figure out what possible paths to take to solve puzzles.
  • We will share some internet tools useful for solving puzzles.
  • Finally, an open floor discussion to dig a little deeper into the puzzles that are taunting you. (No spoilers, but ideas on how to approach the problem and how to get you brain into gear.)

Now, by no stretch of the imagination an expert at solving puzzles, so I fully expect to learn something during the open discussion. While the main portion of the event will be a 101 level type of discussion, I'm sure some of Central Jersey's finest puzzlers will be there, so advanced discussion may break out here and there afterward.

Come join use gentle cacher, learn tips and tricks on solving those puzzle caches that taught you and sit in you nearest unfound search queries. I hope to see you there!
