Geocache Description:

This cache is established in conjunction with the History Museum of Hood River County.

Parkdale View

It all started when a couple of gents by the names of Baldwin and Tieman decided to take up residence around here in 1865.  The surrounding countryside was virgin timber and rivers coming off of Mt. Hood.  During the following years this area was known as the Baldwin Precinct.  As more people moved in the timber came down and the orchards went in.  In 1907 the name was changed to Parkdale because of the park like setting of the area.

Old Log Truck

In 1910 the Oregon Lumber Co. built a railroad spur to Parkdale to transport the timber to their mill in Dee.  The railroad is still in use but as a scenic tour train from Hood River to Parkdale.  Take some time to wander around the quaint little town and see the surrounding sights.
The cache is a medium sized lock and lock with lots of goodies of a historical nature.
