Holtby Circular - Eastfield Corner Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not responded to my note I am archiving it.

Guidelines:**You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing.**

If you wish to contact me about this cache please use my Email address below my signature and quote the GC number of the cache. Please note this system is not infallible and I may miss any such mail.

Many thanks,

Geocache Description:

It is a pleasant short walk from Holtby or Dunnington to find this 35mm micro which is one of the Holtby Circular walk series. It is also easily reached by bike or car (though parking is difficult).

The "Holtby Circular" series of caches take you on a short walk through Holtby via Eastfield Lane, Dunnington (there is a cheeky multi in the series too that will take you out of Holtby). The full walk crosses the busy A166 so please take care, especially with children. This is one of the short circular walks promoted by the City of York council 'PROW' team. The walk is well documented here.

From the "Holtby Circular - Seeds and Nuts" cache, proceed as follows: ... cross the road with care and pass over the stile into an arable field. Follow the footpath diagonally across the field to a large tree and waymarking post. Following the waymarker, continue along the field edge to another stile. Cross the stile emerging into a quiet lane. This is Eastfield Lane and leads eventually to the village of Dunnington.

The cache is a one-eyed googly 35mm film canister dangling precariously out of sight.

Please take care with the cache. If it 'falls' and you can't retrieve it (shame on you), please log the need for 'fishing' equiptment for the next to seek.
