Geocache Description:

Quick park and grab. Not wheel chair accessible. The terrain is a little rough and you must go up a small incline.

The area out here was originally occupied by Native Americans. The first white people settled here in 1799. The Portage area encompassed Boschertown, Orchard Farm, Black Walnut, Portage des Sioux and Machens.

The Black Walnut Cemetery was founded in 1810. Family members of the founding families of this area are buried here.

Please do not go up into the cemetery proper. Some of the local historians are in the process of finding the old graves and trying to restore as many as they can.

Cache is a very small, clear container. About 5.5' off the ground. Please bring something to write with.

Permission for this cache was given by Mary Villeret and Larry Kluesner.

Congratulations to AWANDERER for being FTF!!
