Geocache Description:

Waikowhai, which means “kowhai by the water” is the largest patch of native bush in Auckland City.

It hosts a valuable sample of Auckland’s original flora and fauna and covers an entire hillside stretching from the ridge to the water.

The cache is on a path which travels from the ridge to the water.

In spring the area is ablaze with yellow flowering Kowhai, which in turn attracts large numbers of Tui and Rosella.

No bush bashing required, and no need to take more than one step off the path.

Cache is a 1.2 l systema.

The area is heavily baited for predators, so keep a tight reign on the young ones and four legged friends.
