Treasure in the mountains of Burgulyuk, the very bottom of Tian Shan range in south Kazachstan. Elevation 1265 m.
We hid a cache at our day picnic trip to the Burgulyuk mountains. It is a small plastic container in a deep mountain valley where a small pitoresque river flows.
It is not especially difficult to climb to the cache - just closely follow the water upstream, there's a path along it all the way.
The difficult part for a foreigner is to get to the river itself. We went from Shymkent by car, through Lenger - through the town, at the very end once all houses end there's a T-shape intersection, where you should turn right to the village of Dongystau. If you got there correctly so far, that's great, you may want to ask several times on the way. In Dongystau you surely need to ask about the Ay-Tan sanatorium or children camp called Burgulyuk (Birkilik in Kazakh).
Only at the camp is where the fine paved road ends. You can leave the car there and walk the rest, otherwise you need to bribe a local to open a gate for you where not very good road leads to the river and up to the mountains. If you decide to walk, basically just follow the arrow or find the little river, it shouldn't be difficult on a bright day.
Cache is not recommended in winter or during heavy rains. The water in the stream is potable.
The GPS signal is not too strong in the narrow valley, don't hesitate to use the hint and spoiler. Happy trip!
