This cache has been archived.

LavaLizard: As there has been no response from the cache owner, I am archiving this cache to remove it from search pages and to allow for new caches in this area.

If the cache owner addresses the issues that lead to archival and contacts me within a reasonable period of time (6-8 weeks), it may be possible to unarchive the cache.

Geocache Description:

This is the first of two stages. If you follow each stage, you will end up on a road that will lead you up behind the Hollywood sign where you'll be able to stand only 50 yards or so away from it. The other stage is named "Follow me to Hollywood: Stage 2 - Harder." As you can probably guess, the caches are more difficult to find as you get closer to the Hollywood sign.

This cache is located just off a trail which can only be hiked (no bikes or vehicles of any kind). Children may be able to do this hike, but there are steep drop-offs next to the trail in some areas, so an adult must be present and use extreme caution. The trail can be accessed by following these directions:
1. Park on the street anywhere around Western Canyon Rd. and E Observatory Ave. (N34 07.402, W118 18.133) (parking is allowed on these two roads, but I’m not sure about other roads, so stick to these ones).
2. Walk a short distance to Mt. Hollywood Dr. (N34 07.423, W118 18.120) which is a closed off road used by hikers and mountain bikers.
3. Follow Mt. Hollywood Dr. up to N34 08.136, W118 18.332 and take the dirt road to the left.
4. Then walk 100 feet or so and take a small dirt path on the left. Make sure that you are walking west and slightly north.
5. Keep heading west. The path will split and heading to the right will take you up to a peak where another cache (hidden by someone else) is hidden. You can go this way and then keep heading west where you’ll meet up with the path that split to the left, or you can stay to the left and go along the base of the peak. Either way will lead you right to my cache.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU PLOT OUT YOUR COURSE BEFORE BLINDLY FOLLOWING MY DIRECTIONS. There may also be better (easier, more fun) ways of getting to this cache location, and if you have one, feel free to post it in your log.

If you are heading to my other stage, keep heading west on this same path to my next one.
