Geocache Description:

The cache is a small lock-n-lock with a log book pencil and trade items. Please park at the roadside pull out with the directional sign on Hiway 16, or on Langley Avenue.

The Village of Fraser Lake sits on the western end of Fraser Lake and was known as Frasertown until 1919. Fur trade and logging, agriculture were the original backbone of this community.
In 1927 Charles Foote and Alfred Langley while hunting found some rocks with minerals along a ridge south of Endako. They along with some other residents staked their claims and called it Stella Group. Over 30 years several options were written on these claims and then dropped. Apparently due to an Error the claims had lapsed and was restaked by a geologist from Vancouver. Then in 1961 a Mr. Robertson took an option there was enough interest to complete the exploration. A major ore body was discovered and the with space age came a demand for Molybdomen
In 1965 Endako Mines opened and became a major employer in the area. The town exploded with the mine building housing to accommodate contractors and employees. A shopping center, Hotel, apartment, and housing, also a temporary camp was built to accommodate the construction and finally the mine workers
From the cache you can see the Shopping Center and Hotel. The road running parallel to the cache on the South side of the Highway 16 was named after the Langley family
