The Japanese Garden is situated in the northwest corner of
Delaware Park adjacent to Mirror Lake. It was originally planned in
1970 with construction starting in 1971 and the opening of the park
in 1974. The park was renovated and rededicated in 1996. The park
consists of several plantings, originally over 1000 and 3 small
islands connected with bridges. There is a bike path running
through the park that starts in Delaware Park and runs along
Scajaquada Creek.
While you are here I highly recommend looking around and
enjoying the serenity of nature here in the middle of the city. You
will often see an egret or great blue heron hunting in the lake.
You also may want to visit the historical museum at the top of the
hill, which is also the best area to park.
This cache will take you just west of the actual Gardens and
should be fairly easy to find. Please remember to not damage the
area and leave everything as you found it.
This cache is listed as a small but is borderline small/regular.
The original contents are a few small kids toys and one Travel Bug.
Please close the container properly to help keep everything in good
condition and rehide properly. Please bring a pen!
Recommended parking is at the top of the hill by the Historical
Society. The park closes at 10pm. Please obey park rules.
Happy Caching!
