Geocache Description:

Located in the town there should be no problems accessing this cache but please note it is at ground level. Pease use stealth whilst retrieving and replacing this cache. This may be a quiet back street but the garage and shops opposite are used by plenty of muggles.

The junction of Kings St and St Peters St marks the start of the walk through the old town. As you walk through the town towards the Quayside and The Strand check out the different building styles that you pass. Sandwich has the highest number of list building to households in UK making it "the most complete medieval town in the country". Once the waters had receded from Richborough in early Saxon times, Sandwich was the gateway port the continent and consequently had royal visitors and royal sponsorship. Beneath the houses lie extensive cellars that were used to store the imported goods that arrived at the port and for many hundreds of years, until the haven silted up, Sandwich grew in prosperity.

As you walk to your next cache look around you – there is history everywhere. Most of the buildings date from the 1500’s onwards because the town was raised to the ground in 1457. A map of the sights can be down loaded from this link (visit link)

This time you will be looking for a 35mm pot.

Although a back street, take care as this can be a busy muggle area with the cahce sited close to shops and a garage. Use stealth when retrieving and replacing this cache.

This is cache #6 of 8 sited around Sandwich and gives clues towards a second bonus cache. You will need to collect clues from caches #6 - #8 and then 2 of the clues found in original series of caches #1 - #5.
