Geocache Description:

Another park and find along the Dartmouth waterfront. The second of my "Don't get caught" series.

Caching occasionally attracts unwanted attention. We all strive to avoid being detected while searching for caches and having our caches discovered by Muggles. This series is dedicated to the truly stealthy Geocacher. Although not purposely placed to draw attention, these caches are in highly visible areas and will require extra caution while searching for them. This cache is not intended to hold tradable items in case it vanishes.

In 1826 construction was started to connect 7 lakes and the Shubenacadie River to provide a shipping lane from the Halifax Harbour to the Minas Basin. The Shubenacadie canal was completed in 1861 and unfortunately, steam ships only sailed the canal until 1870. It was replaced by faster and cheaper rail lines.

This cache is place at the beginning of the canal in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. If the information center is open drop in and learn about the unique canal. Much of the canal is still traversable by foot and canoe.

If you're fast and stealthy you'll make out fine.

Oh yeah, bring a pencil.

Good Luck.

Congratulations to k-romers for the FTF.
