Geocache Description:

An easy find by the Kerrville VA Cemetery. DO NOT PARK ANYWHERE BUT WHERE THE ENTRANCE TO THE CEMETERY IS. YOU RISK GETTING A "WARNING" FROM THE POLICE IF YOU PARK ON ANY GRASSY AREAS!

In June, 1923, trustees of the Brown Cemetery gave the Women's Auxiliary of the local American Legion permission to bury local servicemen. The Auxiliary had assumed responsibility for providing such burials for ex-servicemen and WWI veterans who died in the Kerrville community without family or friends who could provide for their interment.

In December 1932, the Brown trustees sold the unused portion of their family cemetery to the American Legion. The American Legion, in turn, donated 1.7 acres to the Veterans Administration in February 1943. In 1973, the cemetery was transferred to the National Cemetery System, and is managed by the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

There are 463 Veterans buried here.

Please be respectful of the grounds on which you are walking. There is a nice box there containing a log with all the names of those interred on the grounds. It is interesting to look at.

NOTE: Visitation Hours are Sunrise to Sunset. BYOP.

"First to Find" award is a $2 bill!..
