| End moraines are accumulations of stones dropped at the end of a glacier. End moraines result when the glacial ice melts and leaves the stones it was carrying behind. |

The end moraine is situated at the foot of the Weißsee glacier in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Today, one of the eastern alps most beautiful Swiss stone pine woods grows on the moraine. The moraine arose in the ice age and the stones are calcareous mica-slate. Calcareous mica-slate consists of calcium carbonate, crystal and mica lamination. The fresh stone is coloured slate blue but when it has weathered it turns brown. |
Reservoir Enzingerboden:
At the foot of the end moraine you can see the reservoir Enzingerboden, which is filled with the melt water of the Weißsee glacier. It stores water for the power stations Schneiderau and Uttendorf II. A reservoir not only produces energy, it also provides the environment with protection from flooding. |

To get the log permission for this earthcache you have to answer the following questions and to do a task:
Park your car at the indicated parking coordinates.
Opposite you will find a small bridge, where you can walk to the cache location.
Follow the way (it will take you about 5 minutes) to the header coordinates, where you can see a huge stone in the water, which was moved there in the last ice-age.
1) Optional: Take a picture of yourself with your GPS in front of this huge stone (example picture) and attach it to your log.
2) Measure the height of the stone above the water level.
Unfortunately you cannot walk around the reservoir (one part is private property), so you have to go the same way back to your car. You then follow the road to the additional waypoint where you find a sign which could be helpful in answering the following question:
3) What is the storage capacity of the reservoir Enzingerboden in m³?

| Eine Endmoräne ist eine wallartige Aufschüttung (= Moräne) von Gesteinsmaterial am Ende eines Gletschers. Endmoränen entstehen, wenn sich am Ende eines Gletschers Abschmelzen und Eisnachschub die Waage halten. |

Die Endmoräne am Enzingerboden befindet sich am Fuße des Weißseegletschers im Hohe Tauern National Park. Auf ihr ist im Laufe der Zeit einer der schönsten und urigsten Zirbenwälder der Ostalpen entstanden. Die eiszeitliche Moräne besteht aus Kalkglimmerschiefer. Kalkglimmerschiefer ist aus körnigem Kalk, Quarz und Glimmerplättchen zusammengesetzt. Der frische Bruch ist bläulich-hellgrau gefärbt, nach der Verwitterung erscheint er braun. |
Staubecken Enzingerboden:
Am Fuße der Endmoräne befindet sich das Staubecken Enzingerboden, das mit Schmelzwasser des Gletschers Weißsee gefüllt wird. Das Wasser wird für die Kraftwerke Schneiderau und Uttendorf II gesammelt. Neben der Stromproduktion bietet das Staubecken auch einen Hochwasserschutz für die umliegende Bevölkerung. |

Um diesen Earthcache loggen zu können, musst du folgende Aufgaben erledigen:
Parke dein Cachemobil bei den angegebenen Parkkoordinaten.
Schräg gegenüber findest du eine Brücke, über die du zur Endmoräne gelangst.
Gehe nun den Weg entlang zu den Headerkoordinaten (ca. 5 min Gehzeit), wo sich der große Gesteinsbrocken im Wasser befindet.
1) Mache ein Foto von dir mit deinem GPS vor diesem Stein (siehe Beispielfoto) und füge es deinem Log hinzu.
2) Messe wie hoch dieser Gesteinsbrocken an seiner höchsten Stelle aus dem Wasser ragt.
Leider kann man nicht rund um das Staubecken gehen, da man den hinteren Teil nicht betreten darf (Privatgrund). Gehe nun wieder am Weg zurück zum Parkplatz, von dort aus, kannst du dann weiterfahren bis zum angegebenen Waypoint. Die Tafel, die du hier vorfindest, könnte hilfreich sein, um folgende Frage zu beantworten:
