Great Bride Stones are located in Calderdale West Yorkshire. The stones are Kinderscout Grit outcrops. Some stones stand some 5m high. The gritstone has been weathered and eroded, probably by wind, into unusual shaped blocks including a 4m high pedestal rock. Many sedimentary structures can be observed along the edge including cross bedding, joint patterns, honeycomb weathering and graded bedding. The site demonstrates the coarse nature of Kinderscout Grit which forms the distinct moorland landscape of Upper Calderdale. The geomorphology of the Upper Calder Valley can be observed from this site, including the over-deepened Cliviger Gorge. Other nearby rock outcrops can be included in a walk across Bride Stones Moor.

Gritstone
Gritstone is a sedimentary rock composed of coarse sand grains with inclusions of small pebbles. It is a coarser version of sandstone. As gritstone is a fluvial sedimentary rock it frequently signs of cross-bedding or current bedding. It is quarried for building material. British gritstone was used for millstones to mill flour, grind wood into pulp for paper and grindstones to sharpen blades. Cross-bedding In geology, cross-bedding refers to inclined sedimentary structures in a horizontal unit of rock. These tilted structures are deposits from bedforms such as ripples and dunes, and they indicate that the depositional environment contained a flowing fluid (typically, water or wind). This is a case in geology when original depositional layering is tilted, and that the tilting is not a result of post-depositional deformation
The posted co-ord's will take you to an elevated position above a rock called The Tilted Pinnacle (see photo above)
To log the cache please take a photo you or your GPS with The Tilted Pinnacle and post 2 further photos showing the interesting rock formations and E-mail me through geocaching.com the answers the following questions
1) In which era was gritstone formed
2) How many years ago were the rocks formed
3) Estimate the height of The Tilted Pinnacle
