Geocache Description:

The current cache position was not of my choosing but I am very grateful it continues to give people an excuse to stop and admire a beautiful waterfall and get a [:-)] at the same time. Freyr very kindly put this cache in place when my original box was demolished along with the main road bridge during rebuilding. The site seemed fine initially but the photos in the gallery & a couple of logs suggest it could be in a more scenic position away from the bridge which, sadly seems to have started to be used as a toilet stop! There were two bridges here in 2009 when I placed the cache and for a short period there were 3 bridges when the main one was rebuilt!! However, the original name is now still correct and you can still see the very old original bridge some way below on the opposite side to the waterfall.

ICELANDIC (according to Google)

ENGLISH
The original cache was like a lot of caches in England - a 35 mm micro pot in a road barrier – only they don’t have a superb waterfall like the one on the Ysta Rjukandi river near this cache site.

I put one here because there are so few caches between Hofn and Myvatn and cachers might need a break before crossing the Tolkeinesque landscape in Modrudalsheidi to the west. I feel sure that J R R Tolkein must have based Mordor on Icelandic landscapes such as this.
About a year after placing the cache, major road works commenced and a 3rd bridge was created. The cache survived for some time but eventually the old bridges and the cache were removed by the workers, who had helped many of the previous finders .
Thanks to Freyr Aevarsson from Egilsstadir, the cache I posted out is in place and ready to be found again after being temporarily disabled for many months.
Remember to take care as you are beside a busy main road!!
Maybe not everyone who searches will find the cache; I hope at least they will have enjoyed the waterfall and a break in the driving.

I am extremely grateful to Freyr for offering to help me keep this geocache going - a true "white knight of geocaching" Also to Eyjafjallajökull for helping me with the new co-ordinates: hopefully cachers will not now be going to the wrong side of the road

And to Geojusu for putting a new box and log sheet in place when this needed it in June 2016. Your help is very much appreciated as I can't say when I'll be able to return to this wonderful island.

I'm also indebted to Boekan for placing a new container in place in July 2018 after the previous one had gone missing. Also thanks to baSHful for putting in a fresh log sheet a month later. A really big help, thank you very much indeed.
