Der Gepatschferner liegt südlich oberhalb des Kaunertals in den
Ötztaler Alpen. Er ist der zweitgrößte Gletscher Österreichs.
Der Naturpfad Gepatschferner ist hinter dem Gepatschhaus angelegt.
Der Einstieg ist im Bereich Fernergries.
Seltene Pflanzen und Tiere, uralte Gesteine und die Geschichte der
Gletscher von der letzten Eiszeit bis heute können dort betrachtet
werden.
Den Gletscherabfluss in ungefähr 2080 m Höhe bildet der
Gepatschbach, der im Gepatschspeicher, mündet.
Direkt beim Parkplatz befindet sich auch der Klettergarten
Fernergries mit 26 Routen im Schwierigkeitsbereich III bis
VII.
Leider ist dieses einzigartige Naturerlebnis akut bedroht. Das
Gletschervorfeld Fernergries, das als besonders schützenswertes
Naturgebiet als Teil des Natura 2000 Gebietes Ötztaler Alpen
ausgezeichnet wurde, soll in den Fluten eines Stausees
untergehen.

Logbedingung:
Mach ein Foto von dir und deinem GPS auf der Stahlbrücke über dem
Gepatschbach kurz vor dem Gletscher. Dabei ist es notwendig den
Gletscherpfad bis zum Ende zu wandern.
Welche Wegnummer hat der Gletscherlehrpfad?
Welche Farbe hat das Gestein, das die ehemalige Grenze des Eises
bildet?

The Gepatschferner lies south above the Kaunertals in the Ötztaler
alps. It is the second largest glacier of Austria.
The nature path Gepatschferner is put on behind the Gepatschhaus.
The entrance is in the range Fernergries.
