Regular sized container hidden a short distance from an AVIS trail which leads to Wood Hill. Some gentle climbing required.
This is our fist cache hide. Wood Hill's 370 ft summit is home to several radio and cellular phone towers, and two reservoirs. According to my AVIS guidebook, Wood Hill was the site of an airplane beacon that had to be shut down during WWII blackouts. Since the trails leading up to and around Wood Hill are more interesting than the summit itself, the cache is hidden off one of the trails. You might to explore the summit area after your search for the cache. I suggest parking at the trailhead on Haggett's Pond Road at N 42.39.020, W 071.13.121. See gallery photo for the trailhead sign. Note that there is plenty of parking if you pull up on the curb of the road. Please also note that attempting to access this cache via Holmes Road will invariably involve trespassing on private property. Therefore, please use the trailhead on Haggett's Pond Road, and follow the AVIS trails towards Wood Hill. Cache is hidden a short distance from the trail. No bushwacking required. Cache includes lots of good swag, a special FTF prize, and an Arnold Ziffel TB. Congratulations to Loche Cache for being the FTF!
