I understand this gun has been moved
from it's original placement in front of the RSL building. That
shouldn't make the cache too hard to find, as the gun is quite
large.
Could the next finder please take a
waypoint at the position of the cache and include it in their log
please. Then I can make the coords correct. A photo showing the gun
and it's relationship to the RSL building would also be
appreciated, so that I can include that photo in place of mine
(with appropriate acknowledgement). Thanks in advance.
WanderingAus wandered by on day 100 of a "climatic refugee"
trip, and found this Quick Firing 25 Pounder Field Gun in front of
the Port Noarlunga-Christies Beach RSL.
I immediately thought of claiming GA1381 RSL War
Artefacts/Memorabilia by MADSTARS.
MADSTARS offers extra points for his cache if the finder also
places a cache on the War Artefact. After a quick saturation check
(nothing within 1.31 kilometres by my calculation) I determined
that I could place a cache on the gun, and I had come equipped for
just such an eventuality. I hid a magnetic keycase containing a
logbook somewhere on the gun. You will need to bring your own
writing implement.
Please treat this area with respect and take a moment or two to
reflect on the service of those this area commemorates, and those
who made the ultimate sacrifice.
