Tree Circle Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

RosMcC: I'm afraid I have to archive this one. It appears that Antrim Council has decided to stop maintaining the place, which is a shame because it's a lovely little piece of local history. Today when I went to check on the cache the grass all around was waist high (and very wet!), and after I had made my way through to the trees I found that there was no way to get inside the circle. Those trees need to be cut back, there's no space between them now, and the only way to get to where the cache is would be with the use of a chainsaw. I did look around for somewhere else to place a cache nearby, because I really didn't want to archive this, but with houses round about there was nowhere I would have felt happy with. If the council ever cuts the trees back I'll retrieve the box, I'm sure it's still there.

Geocache Description:

Tree Circle

Approaching Crumlin village from Antrim, you will see the Old Mill complex. On the opposite side of the road, rising high above the houses, a ring of fourteen trees can be seen. This ring marks the ground where Mill horses were buried.

You can park in the car park at Crumlin Glen a short walk away under the railway bridge, or roadside parking is also available at the cache site.

The trees are now surrounded by houses, so please be aware that people may be watching your search from windows, and take appropriate care.

The cache

The cache is a small box, only big enough for a pencil, log and a few small trade items. Please take time to ensure the cache is well hidden after signing the log.
