This piece of concert was at one time the main Hwy 14 access to Owatonna. In the 1950’s, 1960’s and 1970’s an A & W Root Beer stand was located in the Fame Awards & Specialties building. Cars filled with teenagers and families lined up for Root Beer and fast food with rock & roll music blaring over the loudspeakers. Carhops were at your service with the push of a button. Haaa…those were the good old days!
A short stretch of the original Hwy 14 still exists behind private property. The adjacent property owners have requested traffic does not drive west past the minimum maintenance road sign. Enter from and exit directly back to School Street and all will be good!
