Geocache Description:

Welcome to Estes Park VII

I visited this place for the first time this week and what a cool place it is. There’s lots of history to be found here (and admission is FREE!) The museum is open everyday from May through October and weekends the rest of the year.

The Estes Park Museum was founded by volunteers in 1962. A department of the Town of Estes Park, the Museum’s purpose is to collect, interpret and preserve local history, as well as to present exhibits, programs and events, for the education and benefit of residents and visitors of all ages.

The museum’s vision is to be a recognized leader in the collection, management and interpretation of local history while providing exemplary exhibits and programs on history, the arts and sciences.

What an exciting history it has been! From the first inhabitants, the Ute and Arapaho, to the early explorers in the mid-nineteenth century, hunters and ranchers, the Estes Park area, at the eastern gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, has seen its share of both heroes and villains.

You don't need to go inside the museum to retrieve this cache but stealth may well be required if there are a lot of visitors.
