Geocache Description:

You are looking for a small, traditional cache near a beautiful swimming hole. Come here to unwind, go for a swim, and find a cache!

Welcome to one of many swimming holes around Poultney. While biking to this spot, I came across some other folks who were looking for the same spot. We decided it was further down the road. Meeting up with them later, they informed me that this spot is sometimes referred to as "Horses' Heaven". As legend goes, over one hundred years ago there was a bridge crossing the Poultney River. When a group of horses were attempting to cross the bridge it collapsed, hence the name.

Use the Waypoint provided below for roadside parking (there is enough room to pull out of traffic and not be in the way). The trail going to the swimming area is short, but very steep. You may want to use ski or hiking poles for the climb. This cache is best approached from the bottom; going to the beach first and then reaching up for the cache.

Take a look upstream; you will find great places to swim. The two rock ledges are popular spots to jump off of. Just be careful if you decide to that do. Please be sure to re-hide the cache as you found it. There is no FTF prize included, but you do get bragging rights and a great spot to relax. I hope you enjoy this spot! =)
