This cache is located just off the Church property in a wooded area. You do not need to enter the church grounds or Cemetary to access the cache but there are many interesting historical Graves in the cemetary.
Please be sure to show respect for the sanctity of the area.
The container is a small bison tube hidden in a normal manner.
There is plenty of parking in the area and the terrain is very moderate.
This is #31 in our "WEIRD SC" Series which will consist of caches placed at locations where either ghosts, unknown creatures, or just plain weird things have occurred or exist.
We think our State Motto should change to "Smiling Faces, Haunted Places.
Just outside of North, South Carolina lies the area known as Bull Swamp. Just off North Road on Bull Swamp Road there is the Bull Swamp Baptist Church and cemetary. The area is a quiet wooded place where it seems no one would be seen at all if not for the three way intersection across the street.
People heading to North, Orangeburg, St. Matthews or Swansea pass by regularly.
The cemetary holds a multitude of old graves with historical signifigance to the area.
But one grave in particular holds a secret.
Somewhere in the middle of the cemetary lies a tombstone dated in the middle 1800's.
The name is faded and most of the information on it has been lost. But on certain nights local residents say that this gravestone vibrates and glows an eerie, bluish light.
It is said that people passing in cars stop late at night and try to identify the grave marker; but that as they approach it fades to darkness.
Some locals say that if you try to find it you will pay dearly. They cite vague stories of persons being killed in horrible accidents within thirty days of going to the specific grave.
Others say that you will be visited by the ghost of the graves occupant, while still others say it's all a local hoax perpetuated by high school kids to pass the hours by in this sleepy little area.
While placing the cache Aries saw nothing unusual and afterwards, being naturally curious he went into the graveyard to look for the headstone. After a short but frustrating search he began returning to the car.
As he opened the door and got into his vehcile he looked out into the center area of the cemetary.
Sitting atop a slightly crooked jagged topped stone was a black crow.
It seemed to be just staring at him.....................
No ghosts or crows were harmed in the placing of this cache.
The description of the actual headstone has been changed to insure no one has enough information to actually find it.
