Geocache Description:

Pages Pinnacle is a 400m high ridge between Springbrook and Numinbah Valley and lies within the Numinbah State Forest. To the local aboriginals it is known as "Kundohikulli", meaning "Rock like a Boat".

Towering above the Hinze Dam and giving fantastic views to the Gold Coast and hinterland, Pages Pinnacle is a challenging 4 hour, 8km round trip (at a steady pace) with plenty of varied terrain and some scrambling and climbing involved. You'll need a sense of adventure and a good head for hights to tackle this one. Take plenty of water and suitable footware is essential.

Park at S28 06.478, E153 15.061. Head down hill along the 4WD trail and turn right approx. 100m before you reach the Hinze Dam waters. Follow this fire trial until you reach the creek crossing. Cross the creek and follow the track to a T junction. Turn right here and after only 50m bear left up the hill. (Do not follow the trail marked with the "No Horses" sign). Carry on uphill. It is steep in some sections and will get your heart pumping. You will finally reach the ridge line. Turn left here along the faint footpad that heads towards the Pinnacle. You'll pass a big black butt tree that looks a lot like the Whomping Willow out of Harry Potter.

Continue downhill and you will soon encounter the first razorback! This is where the fun starts...if you are sure footed and don't suffer from vertigo, you'll have no problems. If not, take a deep breath, make sure your life insurance is in order and scramble carefully across the top of the razorback taking in the fantastic views as you go. Follow the faint path along the top over some rocky sections until you come to the second razorback. Here it is possible to take a lower, safer path if you found the first one a bit hairy! After some more rocky sections, you'll come to a short 10m climb down section. A rope is handy here for added security, although if you're a confident climber you could do it without one.

After this it's a reasonably easy clamber up to the summit. Take care and don't go too close to the edge!

Enjoy!

Kudos goes to Cannibal Smurf for the original idea for this location....we waited....but it just had to be done.
