Above Birkett Tunnel
No-one seems to know why the Tommy Road is so-called because the name seems to date back before wartime usage. The cache is hidden above the Birkett tunnel where the famous Settle-Carlisle line goes through Wharton Fell. If you time your visit right, you might see a steam train. The cache is a clik-lok plastic box which initially contained a first-to-find winner's medal, a ball-bearing puzzle, and eye ball, a car, a geospoon, a 4-colour pen, a plastic shark, a wind-up monkey, a mini-highlighter, a paint brush, a pan-scrub, and the key to the door (but whose?).
