Nullaki Peninsula - Wilderness Estate Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Balayang: I am regretfully archiving this cache since unfortunately there has been no action to restore it, or any communication from the cache owner, Caching Camerons, requesting additional time.

An ample opportunity has been provided for the Cache Owner to respond, but since this opportunity has been ignored, I can only conclude that the cache has been abandoned.

Caches archived under these circumstances are unable to be Unarchived, and this location is now available for the placement of a new cache, by somebody else.

Geocache Description:

Skirted by Wilson Inlet and the Southern Ocean and marking some of Albany's boundary is the beautiful "Nullaki Peninsular Wilderness Estate" Although most of the peninsular has been divided into estates it remains mostly untouched and pristine. It even has a vermin proof fence to keep the feral animals out and equip with automatic gates for vehicle access! Not a lot of people seem to know about this spot and we only found it by accident last year and are dead keen to share it with others. The site of the cache has two picnic tables, a very large car park and a boat ramp with a short but very well constructed jetty. The Bibbulmun track  also crosses through here so if you are that way inclined bring your walking shoes and a day pack or if you are keen for for a 10 minute return walk i recommend taking the section of track to the right towards Albany, two hundred meters or so down this track you will come across a rain water tank and shelter for hikers and if you take the track directly in front this to the waters edge you will find a bench and a device that must have been used to signal to the boatman that Bibbulmun hikers needed to cross the inlet. According to the signs in the hut the Ferry no longer comes but the sign still works and is quite impressive!!

The cache is a camo and as a whole could have been classed as a small or a medium but it only has enough room for the log (no pencil so bring your own). So i had to class it as a micro. I don`t usually provide hints with camo caches but as this one is so far away i didn`t want people going home empty handed. The clue is a bit cryptic but once solved is a dead give away so please don`t use it unless you need to.    *Driving Instructions* This particular location can be a bit tricky to find and our fairly new sat nav only showed maps for half way there, so here is how to get there. Take Eden road which is 150 meters down Lower Denmark road from South Coast Hwy (Denmark end) Stay on this road for 11 kms (beware of the sharp right angle bend after 4 kms) you should now be at the press button gate. Go through the gate and continue along Eden road for a further 3 kms then take Nullaki Drive on the right. follow this road for 2.5 kms then you should just see a road on the right Marked Foreshore Access ( S 35 00.103 E 117 23.023) take this short road and you are there!  Note all roads are sealed bitumen so if you end up on a dirt track then turn back!
