ARCHIVING CACHE

As there's been no cache to find for a while, I'm archiving your cache to keep it from continually showing up in search lists and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the very near
future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Thanks a MILLION, Glenn

Geocache Description:

~~~~~CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED COORDINATES!~~~~~
My favorite show is The Andy Griffith Show (TAGS) for a number of reasons…not one swear word (or even a crass word) for the entire run of the show, each show has a moral to it, your kids can watch an episode without inappropriate subjects coming up unexpectedly and so on and so on.
Another reason I am a fan of TAGS is that I grew up in NC and all the names of places that are mentioned are real places that I’ve been to. I grew up in a community like Mayberry where there was for example the local “Wally’s Gas Station.” For the record, Mayberry was fashioned after the small town of Mt. Airy, NC which was Andy Griffith’s hometown. Internet Movie Database website denies this, but fans know otherwise. Mount Pilot is actually the town of Pilot Mountain which sits in the shadow of (you guessed it) Pilot Mountain which is now a state park. There really was a Floyd Lawson although the name was changed. There really was a Mr. Foley. There really is a Siler City…and so on…
For this series, you are going to have “share my love” if only for a short while in the form of answering some TAGS trivia. The caches themselves are not that hard to find…in fact, they are pretty easy once you have the right coordinates. You could Google the answers, if you want to, but you won’t get much in the way of hints from me.
Oh and one other thing, you’ll probably want to check out the website The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club and WBMUTBB (the “Who’s Been Messing Up The Bulletin Board?” chapter) which is the only online fan club of TAGS that I know of. It’s a pretty interesting site as long as you are interested in all things Mayberry…or if you want the answers to most of the questions for this series. ?
www.mayberry.com
When you score the smiley on this one, feel free to log your favorite TAGS episode, moment or phrase. If you want, you can tell about a “Mayberry Moment.” For example, one of my favorites is when Gomer is unconsciously fiddling with a gun, Andy says, “…and take that gun out of your mouth!” Now where are you going to get a line like that?
This series of caches is mostly comprises 35mm film canisters with camo tape NOT located on the ground, but don’t look *exclusively* for the same set up every time.
You may very well overshoot the turnoff to some of these out-of-the-way locations so I would recommend planning your caching run unless you like backtracking for a few miles. ? I got this idea from a couple of different caches namely the Red Diamond Challenge and Branson or Bust. I go to Branson around 1x/week and started thinking that it would be good if there were a series of caches around my favorite show along a path I travel frequently and that people from out of town might enjoy. None of these are on private or commercial property. Although they are easily accessible, they are not wheelchair accessible.
I looked for out of the way places where muggles are not much of an issue. At times, you may be within eyeshot and earshot of someone’s house, the highway, etc, but nothing serious as long as you play it cool. In the words of Barney, “This is a plain clothes operation…”
A = # of TAGS episodes – 7
B = # of seasons TAGS ran for + 1
C = # of Emmy’s Don Knotts won (all associated with TAGS)
D = # of free haircuts Barney Fife won at the church raffle.
A + B + C + D = 260
Final Coordinates are as follows:
N 36 56.A
W 93 13.BCD
