Geocache Description:

Easy park and grab at a landmark south of Hobbs.

This landmark was recently erected after being refurbished by Mitchell Windmill Service of Ft. Sumner, New Mexico.

This particular mill started it's service in Northern New Mexico and pumped water on an indian reservation for years. After being rebuilt, it was relocated to Southern Texas near Del Rio and Lake Amistad to supply water for sheep and cattle. After many years the mill was refurbished and brought to Hobbs as a landmark for Double J Animal Hospital.

As you see this machine, it has the capacity to pump water from nine hundred feet below ground. It measures sixteen feet in diameter and weighs more than 3000 pounds.

More information on this windmill and others can be found at www.aeromotorwindmill.com.
