Geocache Description:

Container is a match case. Please screw cap on tightly or it will be out of reach.

Early settlers in this area of Canal Township were the Whitman, Sutley, Anderson, Hart, Rice, Brown, Douglas, Daily, Hawthorne Lupher, Clough, Burson & Deets families, many of whom are buried in this little cemetery.
The first Baptist Church building was erected in 1832, a plain structure of wood that was thirty – six feet square.
There are Revolutionary War, War of 1812 and Civil War veterans at rest here. A tragic exit from life was that of little Arthur Davison who at age of 7 was killed instantly by the explosion of a barrel of kerosene when he struck a match against it.
