This is a small beach with a view of Hog Island. There is off road parking and easy access.
As a young man my father would occasionally take me ocean fishing at the mouth of Tomales Bay. We would launch at Nicks Cove and motor past Hog Island through the early hours of the sunrise, returning with catches of halibut and salmon. We often ate at Nick's Cove, at a time when Nick was behind the bar and Dorothy was the waitress. I also have fond memories of the clam chowder and the french fries. There were photos posted on a board near the front door of fishermen and their catches. Several of those photos included my father, and his friends, and the fish that they caught. There is also a photo of Iver in the cache. This cache is in his rememberance and includes numerous fishing lures so watch out for the hooks (which have been dulled).
The original IVER cache (my dad) was placed on Hog Island.
That cache has been archived due to inactivity (as the island is hard to get to). Additionally the island has been declared off limits for habitat restoration, it is a part of a state park, and it looked as if there had been a fire there as well. I wanted to place the cache close to Miller Boat Launch Ramp at Nicks Cove, where I spent much time with my dad, However, there is already a cache close to those locations and I needed to go a bit down the road to a nice beach area that has a view if Hog Island.
Then the next location was compromised by someone living under the trees at GZ where I had placed the cache. I went there today and found the cache under an abandoned futon matress in the original hiding spot. The cache has now been relocated to a close nearby location that should be an easy find.
This is not a sit down and reach under location and it is not in the boat.
