DO NOT GO TO THE LISTED COORDINATES, YOU NEED TO SOLVE THE PUZZLE TO GET TO WP1
The final is a roadside cache, use caution when exiting and entering your vehicle. A palindrome is a word, or phrase that is spelled the same backwards and forwards. The WP1 and the final coordinates are palindromes AABC.BAA and DEEFF.EED. Count the palindromes in the following paragraphs to get the values for each letter. A It was a beautiful day, around noon, and I was driving my racecar to the track for the afternoon races when I heard a pop. What did I do? I stopped to change the tire. But the spare was flat too. Since I didn’t have a spare, I jacked up the car and took off the tire and rolled it down to the local repair shop. B It wasn’t very far away and I arrived in just a few minutes. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted the mechanic and asked him to fix the flat. I had to go to the waiting area because the rule says that customers are not allowed into the service area. I thought that it shouldn’t apply to me because I work on my own car, however, rules are rules. C I looked around in the waiting area and saw a woman who was a nun. It seemed that she needed a ride so I thought that I would do my civic duty and said “Madam, once I get the car fixed, would you like a lift?” She replied that she did need a ride and that I should address her as Sister Ada. Her mission was to help poor distressed animals from Australia namely emus, gnus and kangaroos. She was a real pip. D It seemed obvious at this time that the mechanic was slower than molasses and it was going to take forever for him to patch the tire. It wasn’t out of balance so he didn’t have to use the balancing machine. It was a small hole so he didn’t have to use a big patch. He was just very slow. E Finally, Bob the mechanic, had fixed the tire that had popped. So I rolled it over to my racecar and made sure that the car was level on the jack and remounted the wheel. I drove back to the service station to pick up the nun, Sister Ada and we were on the road. I dropped her off at the nunnery with the rest of the nuns then with a toot and a wave I was once again on my way to the racetrack. Oops, then I saw blinking lights behind me, it was a cop with radar and I thought, “what sin had I committed now?”. It was well past noon and I was in a rush. But, had I made a complete stop at the last stop sign? Had I been over the speed limit? F As I pulled over, the cop flew right by me with his big rotor light flashing. It appeared that I had not committed any sins. The lesson was learned, it never hurts to lend a helping hand to someone indeed in need and a good deed will be rewarded. Once you get to WP1, find out what Ted H. Jr. has to offer. Add up all eight digits to get a two-digit sum, then subtract the smaller of the two from the larger, to get a single digit. Add that number to C in the WP1 coordinates, leaving the rest of the coordinates the same, to find the final coordinates. Note 1: This is not intended to be a WSQ cache, but that is how the coordinates played out. Show all due respect to the monuments and to any visitors you may encounter. Note 2: There is a larger than normal distance between the way points because that was the only way that the palindromical navigation would work, without landing on private property. Note 3: Originally I took this note out of the listing, but I am adding it back today (9/30/2009), as follows: This puzzle can be solved with an alternate method of logic and brute force, using a mapping software application that rhymes with oogle girth. The information in the first two notes, and the nature of the cache alone have sufficient information that an intuitive person could, using the method above, come to a correct solution. I am OK with using either, and the cache may be logged regardless of the method, but let me know in your log which method you used "the elegant solution" using the story and WP1 or "Brute Force". I will collect this information for reference for future puzzles that I may create. Regards RNS Congratulations Huffinpuffin2 on the FTF honors. Icy Paws with their 1600 find here. Well done.
