Kummen / Ålesund Vannverk
’Kummen’ en det lokale navnet på den gamle demningen tidligere benyttet av Ålesund Vannverk i forbindelse men vannforsyningen til Ålesund og Sula. Dagen reservoar og renseanlegg ligger inne i fjellet.
Selve den gamle demningen eksisterer derimot fortsatt og en fin tursti passer rett forbi på vei opp på fjellet. Du kan fint fortsette oppover denne turstien om du har til hensikt å ta deg opp til toppen av Emblemsfjellet og kanskje plukke noen cacher der oppe også, da blir dette en heldagstur. Rett foran ’Kummen’ finnes et lite parkanlegg der man kan hvile seg etter den til tider bratte turen opp, det er imidlertid fin vei å gå på hele veien. Cachen er gjemt på nordsiden av dammen. Et godt utgangspunkt er brua som krysser bekken som går på utsida av dammen. Det er andre ting å gjøre på i nærheten også, nede ved parkeringer starter en fin turvei der man kan rusle seg en tur i skogen, start ved waypoint TUR. Turen tar en times tid og bringer deg tilbake til utgangspunktet.

’Kummen’ is the local name for the old dam used by Ålesund Vannverk, the company responsible for fresh water supply to Ålesund and Sula.
The plant used today is hidden inside the mountain.
The old dam still exists and a nice path passes it on its way up to the top of the mountain. This could be a nice starting point if you wish to make your way up to the top of the mountain and perhaps snatch a couple of caches up there too. If you do that this will propably be an all-day event.
In front of ‘Kummen’ is a small park with benches where you take a rest after the walk up on a steep but very nice road. The cache is hidden a little out of the way, behind the dam.
There are also other activities you can do in the area, I nice walking trail starts close to the parking area at waypoint TUR, this trail takes you back to the starting point if you follow it all the way, approx. a 1hr hike.
