1066 Trail 3 Traditional Cache
SecretFive: Having a walk around Battle this evening we checked on cache.
Sadly the cache has seen better days, it is no longer waterproof and contents are wet.
We have decided to take cache away and archive.
Many thanks to all the cacher's that have found this cache to date.

In Battle town there is limited free parking or a couple of pay and display car parks. There is also limited free parking in Marley Lane.
Please be careful at cache location as there is a steep slope near to where cache is hidden.
This is one of 5 caches by us around the historic town of Battle in East Sussex. All of which can be done individually or as a longer circular walk through both town & countryside, taking in all the sights of this historic town along the way.
If approaching from Marley Lane, you will need to take the Public Footpath down through Lake Field. The National Trust was able to acquire Lake Field in 1938 & so preserve the view to the North.
When standing at the top of Lake Field you will be able to see the sails & top of a windmill if you look carefully.
Alternatively you can take the footpath down through the church car park or the footpath which leads down from Mount Street. Depending which direction you approach the cache, the walk can be quite hilly.
This is a 450m clip-n-lock plastic container inside a camo drawstring bag, with certificates for the first 3 to find.

This is a popular area & stealth may be required.
If continuing the series, you will approach through fields from the bottom.You can then take the public footpath up through Lake Field and down towards Battle Railway Station.
