Geocache Description:

This is a micro cache on the South Big Horn/Red Wall Scenic Backway. It’s intended to encourage discovery of the historic stock trails used by sheep and cattle ranchers…and of course, outlaws.

This cache resides near the beginning of a 100 mile loop off U.S. 20-26 that traces the routes of the 33 Mile and Arminto Stock Trails that lead into the Red Wall area and Big Horn Mountains. Sheep and cattle were driven into the mountains for greener summer pastures. The trail is still use and you may see a cattle drive. Follow Bucknum Rd north to find the cache. You might need to be a bit of a maverick to venture this far off the beaten path. Muggles will probably not be an issue. Enjoy the solitude.
Access to this cache should be good all year…with a few exceptions in the winter. But a little further beyond this point, the route should be considered fair-weather only. The cache is quite small. Bring your own pen or pencil. It would be well worth visiting the Wyoming Department of Transportation—Scenic Backways website before taking the drive.
