Geocache Description:

This cache along Brushy Creek wants to be a trading post for pencil erasers. Several erasers are there to start. Bring any types of erasers, and please begin the trading!!!!!!

Enjoy the historic park area around Brushy Creek and Round Rock's famous round rock as well. This is a nice place to take a walk, and is friendly to leashed dogs.

Also, be sure to bring your small travel bugs and geocoins to this fine location. Maybe someone even has a travel bug eraser!

Also nearby is the Chisholm Trail park and monument, which commemorates the Chisholm Trail through Central Texas.

In 1851 a small community was formed on the banks of Brushy Creek, near a large round rock located in the middle of the waterway. This round rock marked a convenient low-water crossing for wagons, horses and cattle. The first postmaster called the community Brushy Creek, but in 1854 the small settlement was renamed Round Rock in honor of this now famous rock.

After the Civil War, Jesse Chisholm began to move cattle from South Texas through Round Rock, on the way to the Kansas railheads in Abilene. The trail stretched from South Texas across the Red River, and on to the railhead of the Kansas Pacific Railway in Abilene, Kansas, where the cattle would be sold and shipped eastward.

The route he established, which crossed Brushy Creek at the round rock became known as the Chisholm Trail. Most of the old buildings, including the old Saint Charles Hotel are still there today. This historic area is now called "Old Town."
