Geocache Description:

Parking area and nearby places in walking distance to this waterfront cache.

Lots of changes recently. A bit more difficult to find so increased difficulty level. A great spot to walk on historical grounds where you can still hear the same conversations about fishing and hunting that was heard back in 1922 when Barron Collier owned this property.
The illustrious visits, from past to present, include none other than those made by Presidents Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Hoover, and Nixon - Actors John Wayne, Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Sean Connery, Danny Glover, and Joe Pesci - Novelist Ernest Hemingway.
In the recent past several movies were captured on this spot and it's no wonder. The place oozes with history and character and is
tucked into a waterfront corner of a town where time has stopped and left undisturbed much since the grand ole schemes of Barron Collier. After World War II revitalization was stopped by Hurricane Donna in 1960. Soon after the building boom began and this small hamlet with all of 600 residents developed their family homestead and busied themselves with the local stone crab industry. The best restaurants bring in stone crabs from this prosperous port.
The cache container is open on one end.
