This geocache is found at the Mallorytown Landing property of Thousand Islands National Park, north of the 1000 Islands Parkway at its juncture with County Road 5. It involves a hike of approximately an hour round trip with a few elevation changes. Park fees are applicable to access the site.
The geocache is found along the Mallorytown Landing Trail north of the 1000 Islands Parkway where it meets County Road 5. Follow the west leg of the loop north of old River Road.
The cache is located at the site of a 2011 prescribed burn that was done to promote the growth of the rare pitch pine (identifiable by its rough bark and needles in groups of three). Park ecologists are conducting studies to see how the pitch pine trees and other plants respond to the fire.
The geocache is in a small, black ammo container. Inside you will find a tidbit of interpretive information, a log sheet, several golf pencils,and an information sheet about Parks Canada's geocaching guidelines.
There are no trade items in the cache and we ask that none be left as they are potential animal attractants. Parks Canada also has a Leave No Trace policy which means that we ask you to leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but photos.

Cette géocache est située sur la propriété du parc national des Mille-Îles à Mallorytown Landing, au nord de la promenade des Mille-Îles (1000 Islands Parkway), à l’intersection de la route de comté 5 (County Road 5). Pour s’y rendre, il faut marcher environ une heure, aller et retour, et le trajet est quelque peu accidenté. Pour accéder au site, il faut payer les droits d’entrée au parc.
La géocache se trouve le long du sentier de Mallorytown Landing situé au nord de la promenade des Mille-Îles (1000 Islands Parkway), à la jonction avec la route de comté 5. Suivez le tronçon ouest de la boucle au nord du chemin Old River.
La cache est située sur les lieux d'un brûlage dirigé effectué en 2011 pour aider la croissance du pin rigide, une essence rare qu'on peut reconnaître à son écorce rugueuse et à ses aiguilles qui poussent en groupes de trois. Les écologistes du parc effectuent des études pour voir comment le pin rigide et d'autres plantes réagissent au feu.
La géocache est dissimulée dans une petite boîte à munitions noire. À l’intérieur, vous trouverez un article d’interprétation, un registre, plusieurs petits crayons de bois et un feuillet d’information sur les lignes directrices de Parcs Canada en matière de géocachette.
La cache ne contient aucun objet d’échange et nous demandons aux géocacheurs de n’en laisser aucun, car ces objets pourraient attirer les animaux. Parcs Canada a également une politique sur le plein air sans trace, ce qui veut dire que nous vous demandons de ne rien laisser d’autre que vos empreintes de pas, et de ne prendre rien d’autre que des photos.
