Geocache Description:

Heskestad Old Graveyard - Drive-in cache close to E-39 (Coordinates may be a bit off - difficult so close to mountain wall.)

Heskestad gamle gravplass, trolig fra ca 1300. Eldste kirken en vet om datt ned en prekesøndag i 1732. De bygde ny kirke samme året. Denne stod til 1828 og ble erstattet av den siste kirken som stod her til 1905. Kirkegårdsmuren ble laget i 1736. Trolig ligger mellom 6 og 7000 mennesker begravd her. Klokketårnet ble bygget i 1986.

Heskestad old graveyard, from around 1300. The oldest church known of collapsed on a church Sunday in 1732. They built a new church the same year. This one stood until 1828 when it was replaced by the last church at this location, which was there until 1905. The wall around the graveyard was made in 1736. There are probably between 6 and 7 thousand people buried here. The bell tower was built in 1986.
