Über den Steinbruch "Langes Tal"
Vor vielen Millionen Jahren ist das Lange Tal durch die Kraft eines reißenden Stroms entstanden. Die Wassermassen haben das Gestein erodiert, und somit hat sich der Fluss immer tiefer in die Landschaft eingegraben. Im Steinbruch „Langes Tal“ sind Kalke aus der oberen Kreidzeit (105 – 65 Mio. Jahre vor unserer Zeit) zu sehen. Es handelt sich um Ablagerungen eins flachen Meers, das einst die gesamte Münsterländische Bucht bedeckt hat und von einer vielfältigen Tierwelt besiedelt war. Reste dieser Tierwelt kann der aufmerksame Besucher im Gesteinsschutt am Fuß der Steinbruchwände finden.

About the quarry "Langes Tal"
Many million years ago the Lange Tal has been developed by the power of a rapid river. The rocks have been erroded by the water and hence the river dug deep into the landscape. In the quarry Langes Tal you can see lime stone from the Cretaceous period (105 – 65 million years before our time). It’s the accumulation of a flat ocean once covering the whole Münsterländische Bucht which was settled by a versatile fauna. The interested visitor can find remains of the fauna at the bottom of the quarry walls.
