Geocache Description:

KG6EAR and I were out caching. We had some time to kill (see below) so we each hid a cache. He named his cache "Bad Omen." Now the challenge is to see who can write a better story of our adventure. Who do you think did a better job?

Dirt is fine, loose sand is not, for a 2WD Jeep

Already been stuck in sand while geocaching 2 other times

Really feeling lazy today. The 0.25 miles is all uphill

Natural beauty here, don’t want to drive over plants

I took the path of least resistance, but so does water

That is a wash, Wendy, not a trail!!

I lost almost all traction, going 1 inch per minute

Kept trying to get out, only getting myself deeper in

Now I am stuck good. Time to call for help

Eyes notice bars are missing from cell phone

Walked up the big hill I was trying to avoid

Bars galore here. Called for help

Every thing is working out. Might as well look for cache

Too bad I am arrogant and believe I can find the cache GC1MR50

Two previous cachers had logged DNFs-there is no cache here

Endless vistas, sunset, moon and Jupiter aligned, desert peace

Realize being stuck in sand with KG6EAR is not so bad

This is a beautiful desert area with an iconic building on top of the hill (previous antenna location?) to check out. If you come in the right way, like our rescuer 5150Joker did, 2 wheel drive will take you all the way to the top of the hill. If you come in  by the road we did, it is a great road for 5 miles, then turns into deep sand. I was even doing fine in the deep sand, knowing better than to slow down, but suddenly, there was a burned out carcass of a car blocking our path. That is when the trouble started! We had 2 dogs (protection), 3 gallons of water, an ice chest full of ice tea and 4 cans of frosting with us. We figured we would live. What we didn't have was any sand extrication tools. I'm gonna start carrying a shovel and some boards. They will probably be more helpful than the frosting.

Once we hiked up the hill and called for help, we had some time to kill. We scavenged the Jeep for containers and swag, assembled 2 caches, then went our separate way to hide them. It's a two-fer for you. Enjoy!

FTF can choose one or both of the geocaching buttons I left behind. One seemed especially appropriate. It read:

"Two paths diverged in a wood, and I took the one with a geocache

And that has made all the difference"

Wonder what Robert Frost would have thought of this whole geocaching thing?
