Loggin' Country Gift-and-Greet II Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Hoppingcrow: As I archive this event, I'd like to thank all of you for attending the second annual "Loggin' Country Gift-and-Greet!" Once again, the event was a spectacular success, thanks to participation by each and every one of YOU!

Since we are outgrowing Spiffy's, I'm considering making "Loggin' Country" a summertime activity, so keep your eye on the weekly notifications or check "New in Washington" once the warm weather rolls around. And I might just have something else cooking, too! [;)] You never can tell what plans lurk in the mind of a Crow!

One last reminder: there are still some TBs and coins logged into the cache. Please log them out!

Geocache Description:

Come one, come all!

The first Loggin' Country event was such a smashing success that I swore I'd never, ever do it again, but when I was in Morton recently, some madness overcame me and before I knew what I was doing, I'd booked Spiffy's Restaurant for Saturday, the 5th of December. Maybe it was the smell of the juicy, rich burgers and fries or that lingering taste of a real caramel malt. Such things have been known to affect a person's judgment. Whatever the reason, Loggin' Country Gift-and-Greet II has found its place on the calendar! The hours are 1-4 PM. Bring your family and your appetites!

The highlight of the event will be a gift exchange, naturally. Bring a wrapped gift (preferably geocaching-oriented) with a value of between $5-10. If the gift is specifically suited to a man or to a woman, please inform the host. Each gift will be assigned a number and will be distributed by drawing at 2 PM.

There will also be a cookie exchange! Bring a dozen of your best cookies on a plate protected with plastic wrap to exchange as "swag," i.e., trade your plate for a different one (a starter selection will be provided by the host to get this off the ground). There will also be door prizes (you must be present to participate) and candy for the kids. Weather permitting, we may have some other nifty prizes hidden outdoors for you to seek out with your GPSrs! Be sure to put the event on your watchlist, since more activities will be announced as they develop.

We'll also be providing print-outs listing coordinates for some of the easier, winter-accessible caches in the area, so bring your foul-weather clothes and your spirit of adventure! If you're interested in doing any of the more challenging caches, you're sure to find someone here willing to give you advice on roads and terrain.

What are you waiting for? Hitch the mule to the wagon and truck on up to Loggin' Country!

I have added a Bookmark List ("Loggin' Country caches") of active caches along the various routes to Morton. Some may be short walks in the woods, others are simple park-and-grabs. None of them requires a long hike or driving on dirt roads except "Peterman Pond" which is on a logging road. Just run a Pocket Query from the Bookmark List! Printouts of coords and D/T ratings will be available at the event for those of you who don't run PQs.
