You've heard of MEGA-EVENTS? This 6th bi-annual World Wide Flash
Mob (WWFM) is quite the opposite – a MICRO event only 15 minutes
long! Our event is in coordination with scores of other flash mob
events around the world with thousands of other geoacahers all
happening at the same time. We are bringing together geocachers for
a fun and unique event and to introduce muggles to the fun of
geocaching. Check out the bookmark list that this event is on to
see all the other scheduled WWFM VI events from around the
world.
This event will be held at Kimball Park along High Street in
downtown Ebensburg. The event will begin precisely at 1:00 pm EST
(as determined by the GPS clock) on November 14, 2009. You MUST be
present and sign a log sheet DURING this time to claim the
event.
For WWFM VI we are going to make our presence know by showing up
in hats, wigs, and glasses (wear any or all) right at
1:00.
Minute by minute itinerary:
12:45 - 12:59 Mill about and mosey. Be nonchalant and
casual. Look like a muggle. Don't look like a gathering waiting to
happen. This is part of the fun. We will seem to appear out of
nowhere.
1:00 The event will begin! At this point, all geocachers
will converge, seemingly coming out of "nowhere."
One volunteer will hand out "log sheets" / giveaway slips (same
sheet) – make sure to grab one. Participants will sign the log
sheets (which will later become a log book) to qualify for
attendance and drop them in the designated container. Please
BYOP (Bring your own pen)! Each caching name or group should
indicate the number in their group for WWFM VI statistics. Only
those participants whose names appear on the log sheets may log the
event.
If any muggles are curious about the event we will have a volunteer
hand out fliers that explain geocaching.
1:00 - 1:06 Mingle. Share stories. Brag. Trade TBs via the
swap container. Take pictures. Sign the log sheets – they are your
prize drawing slips. CITO the local area!
1:06 Meal - Enjoy the official candy "meal." Be sure to CITO
your wrappers!
1:08 Group Photo - Assemble FAST and listen to the
photographer for directions.
1:12 Prize Drawing - WWFM Pathtags!
1:14 One minute warning is called.
1:15 EXACTLY Wait for it ... then LEAVE the area without a
trace (right at 1:15 in a disorderly manner / different
directions). The (hopefully empty) bucket for TBs will be packed
up. The log sheet collection container will be packed up and
sealed. We will leave the area to go ... elsewhere (see below for
post-event plans).
Events and activities that happen after 1:15:01 do not count as
part of THIS event.
I'm sure there will be several muggles nearby who will wonder "What
did I just see? What just happened?" That's part of the fun!
Tell your friends and help promote the event!
Suggestion: COME EARLY TO FIND PARKING ALL AROUND THE DOWNTOWN
STREETS. If you can't find parking you might miss the event!
Place this event in your WATCH LIST to receive updates.
Note: The event will be officially over at 1:15. Afterwards,
participants are welcome to get together at Chuck's, a pizza shop
where we can meet, chat, eat, and plan for more caching (just head
West on High Street as you leave the event). Please note in your
log if you think you will be able to come to this post-event so we
can plan accordingly.
