Geocache Description:

In 2009 I was a student at Hamilton Boys High School and I had to do a research project. I chose geocaching. One of my questions was "What is the 'ideal' geocache design?".

I sent out a survey to 40 geocachers and here are the responses.

What type of geocache do you prefer?

What size of geocache do you prefer?

What type of container do you prefer to use?

What items do you think are essential in a new geocache?

What location do you prefer to place a cache?

According to my results, the 'ideal' cache would be a traditional, regular, a clip-top container, with a log book, a pencil, a cache note, a pencil sharpener and some swaps and is placed on a bush walk.

As part of my research project, and as a conclusion to "What is the 'ideal' geocache design?", I have placed an 'ideal' geocache at the Taitua Abroretum.

The Taitua Arboretum covers 20 hectares of trees and open pasture with 2.3 kilometres of easy grade walkways. In 1997 the Taitua Arboretum was gifted to the Hamilton City Council by John and Bunny Mortimer to ensure its sound management and continued development for the benefit of the community.
The Mortimers began planting trees at Taitua in 1973. Today there are more than 1500 species of idigenous and exotic trees and shrubs.
The overall collection of trees provides a mix of open and wooded areas and contains unusual and rare species of trees and shrubs growing in a variety of soil types and terrains.
The Hamilton City Council continues the vision of the Mortimers and is continuing in developing the Arboretum as a recreational and educational assett for the inspiration and enjoyment of the community.

Open 7 days from 8am to half an hour before dusk. Admission free.

This is not the first cache at the Taitua Arboretum, the other cache is Taitua Arbo... what? (Waikato) . If you have not done this cache, add it to your list for an extended walk.

The cache is a green 2l sistema clip-top container.
When the cache was hidden it contained the following swaps:
HBHS Bookmark
Popball
Spinning Top
Marbles x3
2 Francs coin
Hong Kong 20 cents coin
Toy Police Badge
Toy Lion
Toy Tree
Toy Hunter
Toy House
Toy Motorbike
Rugby Cards x3

Please replace hidden and well covered.
