Not too long, not too far, and awesome views make this the perfect hike for anyone I would want to introduce to hiking in the Hudson Valley.
Closest parking can be found at the Mohonk Preserve West Trapps parking lot on the north side of Route 44/55. There is a parking/hiking day use fee of $10 per person or the purchase of a yearly Mohonk Membership is available for $55. The Mohonk Preserve is a private land conservation organization established to protect the Shawangunk Ridge. It is not public land funded by the government. Therefore, there is a day use fee which funds its maintenance and programs.
From the parking area follow the yellow trail east to the bridge crossing over the roadway. After the bridge, look for the Blue blazes on your left for the start of the Near Trapps trail. This trail quickly puts you up on the very edge of the Millbrook Ridge. Peer over the edge and you may see rock climbers below making there way up the cliff face. Please use caution when hiking with dogs and kids as there are no guardrails.
