Geocache Description:

You are looking for a small cache on the grounds of the old Brownstone building on Bean Hill. Bring your own pen. Please ensure the seal is tight when you close it. Please return to original spot for wind protection.

The Brownstone building was built on Bean Hill in 1902 to house the University of Southern Pennsylvania. It later served as Bean Hill High School. In 1960, when three local high schools were merged, the current Central High School building opened below Bean Hill to serve all high school students in the newly formed Spring Cove School District. The last classes were held in the building in 1969 with the completion of the Spring Cove Junior High School, now the Spring Cove Middle School, in Roaring Spring. The old Bean Hill High School stood empty for a number of years until it was renovated. It is now referred to as the Brownstone and currently houses Canary Labs. Also on the grounds is the gravesite of Edward E. Byers, founder of Morrison Cove School of Fine and Vocational Arts.

Cache is placed with permission.
