Recycling the Peanut Butter Container –
A commonly used, recyclable container of everyday consumer consumption and collection, the average peanut butter jar makes a fairly usable Geocache container, but the waterproof ability of each container should be tested individually before being utilized for this purpose. Extensive field tests have shown that best results are obtained by maintaining a vertical placement, of the peanut butter jar, in areas that are exposed to the effects of rainfall and moisture. Leakage may occur if the container is placed on its side.
The paint adhesion ability of this plastic jar is sometimes limited, and may require multiple coats to provide a durable covering. Most sticky-type camouflage tapes adhere to its smooth surface very well. Wide-mouth varieties work best for easy access to the contents, and maximum capacity. The plastic Peanut Butter jar: Recycle this container.
The cache is medium-sized peanut butter jar, containing a log book, a pen and few small trade items. Please maintain a vertical placement of the container, to help minimize moisture intrusion, and control condensation damage of the contents within.
